Eleanor
|
Eleanor of Aquitaine
Her story comes alive in this fabulous new musical performed for the first time in Loulay, France during March 2007 and again on 27 October at the Théâtre Geoffroy Martel, Saintes.
Queen of France and of England … mother of three Kings of England … inveterate traveler and scheming stateswoman … beautiful and passionate, cultured and flirtatious – Eleanor of Aquitaine played an unequalled role in the annals of France and England.
The life of this extraordinary woman is the inspiration for one of the Charente Maritime’s leading amateur theatre groups to stage an ambitious, dramatic and sometimes lighthearted musical based on their local ‘royal’.
Eleanor is a pacy and gripping production that links romance and scandal, ambition and greed. This impressive production is backed with a score that moves from medieval hymns to rhythmic rap.

The Troubadours |
Joining the threads of the multi-faceted plot are four troubadours who interact with the story throughout, usually comically but occasionally in a more serious vein.
