TWO PLAYS
Womberang
This play was written by Sue Townsend (of Adrian Mole fame). Directed by Janet Gosling it was set in the waiting room of a gynaecological clinic. A husband and wife with sexual problems, a bossy patient, other patients at various stages of illness, a dishy French doctor and an administrator on the edge of a breakdown led to a very funny farce.
A happy ending for the couple, (behind the curtain), and a dance in her corsets from one of the patients led the administrator into a final crisis.
Easy Stages
Nick Warburton’s farce directed By Bruce Morris was set behind the scenes of a theatre attempting to put on ‘Hamlet’. The incompetent crew drive the director mad, staff arrive or don’t arrive, scenery fights back and skirts get embarrassingly caught up in rolled rugs.
Poor Hamlet is never done justice!
