This show featured the songs of Richard Rodgers and Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
Act One and Richard Rodgers brought us extracts from ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Carousel’, ‘State Fair’, ‘Babes in Arms’ and ‘South Pacific’. The wonderful songs and dances were prefaced by the scenes leading up to them which gave ample scope for the wardrobe department and the actors amongst us.
The audience were transported from the USA to the South Seas and a cast list of 29 filled the stage.
With Act Two we were brought right up to date with the works of Andrew Lloyd-Webber. ‘Joseph’, ‘Cats’, ‘Evita’, ‘Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ were interpreted anew (especially JCSS!). The wardrobe department was challenged to produce costumes from Ancient Egypt to Argentina via the back alleys and the grand opera houses. And they produced!
The emotional finale was choreographed to ‘Love Changes Everything’ from ‘Aspects of Love’.
