SIXTIES PARTY
03 December 2011

Apparently, if you can remember the Sixties, you weren’t really there. Well, the Encore Sixties Party certainly disproved that saying. We were back there all right, taking over the dance floor as we did more than forty years ago.

A variety of costumes appeared from Mary Quant to Haight Ashbury. The music was fantastic, provided by Bedrock, the sort of music you feel in your bones as well as through your ears. One of Encore’s members, Bob Todd, plays a mean guitar with the band and although, mostly too young to have been around at the time, they got it big time.

The room at the Mouton Noir, so well known to us for rehearsals and dance classes, was transformed into an intimate nightclub throbbing with life and music. We ate chilli con carne and ice cream and emptied the odd bottle of wine.

Guests Lynda and Nigel Willmoth won the best costume prize and Janet Gosling and her guests won the sixties quiz. They definitely remembered the Sixties!
