Open Evening

Encore held an Open Evening to celebrate 10 years of successful productions. Our aim was to show to the world how far we had come in those 10 years. We assembled displays of costumes, props, photos, scenery and put on dance and drama workshops.

Visitors were greeted by members in costumes selected from the many shows we had done and given a welcome drink. They could look at the displays of photos and talk to members in the foyer before going into the auditorium. There they could tour the stage, wings and dressing rooms, look at the displays of props, scenery, costumes and makeup.

Then, settled into the theatre’s comfortable seats, they could listen to an address by Jan Morris, our President, followed by a dance workshop and a drama workshop.

Whilst the evening was intended to introduce new members to the Company we found that it also proved to be a very morale-boosting time for the members who were present. The older ones could indulge in nostalgia about the old days of 2002 and the newer ones could find out how we got here from there!
