Membership

The group enjoys an enthusiastic membership of around 70 people and there is always room for more!

If you have dancing, singing or acting skills – Encore is the place for you. We will always endeavour to include all who want to appear on stage in our productions.

We also run workshops to cover the various areas of ‘theatre craft’. Such events are very important as they allow members to develop latent talents and to tackle their roles on stage with confidence.

Maybe you would rather work backstage or behind the scenes? Practical skills are always appreciated to add to our strong team of backstage supporters. We also welcome those who might like to help during a show with front of house duties.

As well as putting on shows we have an active social programme. Some recent activities have included garden parties, fetes, murder-mystery evenings, quiz and race nights.

In short – we are an active group with wide ranging interests and activities which we are constantly expanding

Some practical details

The company home base is in Loulay in the Charente Maritime. We have an excellent relationship with the charming theatre there where we perform the majority of our shows (although we do occasionally go further afield).

Rehearsals are held once or twice a week in either the theatre (the Foyer Rural) or in the Mouton Noir in Loulay who are also very kind in their support of the group.
