Located in Charente-Maritime, France and founded in 2002, this lively and active association brings together people who have a keen interest in all aspects of theatre.
Having fun is a key element of all the group's activities in addition to the strengthening of links with our local communities. The Encore Theatre Company enjoys an enthusiastic membership totalling over 70 people. With the benefit of the skills and experience of Janette & Bruce Morris (two of the original three founder members) Encore tackles a broad spectrum of productions.
To date the theatre group has successfully produced a major musical, two revues and a pantomime at the Loulay Theatre, two short plays at the Aulnay Theatre, and two open-air productions.
Thanks to having a professional musical director and a producer/ choreographer, as well as a film/video maker among its members, the company has been able to write, produce and record much of its own material.
Regular workshops featuring all aspects of the theatre, including dance, singing and acting have developed many latent talents, enabling those who have never before appeared on stage to tackle their roles with confidence.
Wednesdays are allocated to lively classes in tap and jazz dance at the company's club house, the Mouton Noir hotel and bar at Loulay.
The company has supported the city council of Saintes and the tourist boards in both St Jean d’Angély and Matha with live outside concerts. At Christmas time some members sing carols in Saintes to much acclaim from the locals.
Encore is a theatre company that provides the opportunity for the production of live shows for actors and actresses, singers and dancers. Members who prefer the technical side of theatre have the opportunity to work backstage. |
