Last summer a star was born when Lauren Cupples, of Glenolden, claimed the first “Delco Idol” crown. An employee at a local Acme supermarket, Cupples re-envisioned her future after taking the title and is now pursuing a music career.
Who will become “Delco Idol 2006”? The contest begins with auditions for the competition being held at The Media Theatre on Wednesday, June 7, at 6pm. Those auditioning must fill out a registration form below and have the registration fee of $15. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST BE BETWEEN 14-21 YEARS OF AGE!
There are slight changes to the competition this summer. Instead of 25 contestants, there will be 30 talented singers chosen from the audition process. Five contestants will be whittled away each Wednesday evening in July during the “Delco Idol 2006” competition, until the top ten (rather than last year’s five) battle it out for the title and prizes (including recording time at Media Music Studio).
All contestants must live within a 55 mile radius of the Media Theatre (which includes Wilmington, Philadelphia, and Cherry Hill). Proof of residency is required.
